Also the BMW twin turbo 6's sound like wet farts, especially on the new Z4 coupe. Give me that P65B 44 all day.

I’m certain BMW engine names are created by engineers slamming their faces on keyboards.

S engines are M engines, P engines are the racing version of the S engines.
A ll M I 6’s are the 50 series, V8’s are the 60 series, and V12’s are the 70 series. M made the V10 the 80 series because they ran out of digits. The 5 in the 85 comes from the 5 liter displacement of the V10.
The S65 is literally the S85 missing 2 cylinders, so BMW kept the 5 in there as a callback to the 85.
The B in the nomenclature is the displacement as there were 2 versions of the S65, the 4.0 Liter (S65B40) and the 4.4 Liter, the S65B44.
So this brings us to the racing motor being the P65B44.
It’s all very logical and German. Do you understand?
